Alan Singer -- My interest in photography goes back to my childhood,-my father Arthur Singer was a photographer and wildlife artist, and when I was in college at The Cooper Union in NYC - I met and had critiques with Paul Strand, Walker Evans and Roy DeCarava. Later I met Henri Cartier Bresson, and Paul Caponigro and I had a tough decision to make to continue with my art forms, which included painting and printmaking, and photography. I worked as a freelance artist in New York City for various publishers and gradually began teaching. As a professor, I have been in the School of Art at R.I.T. now for over 27 years. I have exhibited my artwork in galleries and museums mostly in the east and I write a regular blog called The Visual Artworker, which contains reviews of artshows in our region.
