The grand old oak tree stands alone in the field. It has an imposing presence amid the furrows of freshly turned earth. Its knurled trunk and branches are testament to its struggles with the elements over the years. It has a commanding presence. Its offspring have long ago fallen victim to the plow, but the patriarch still stands, saying defiantly to all, “I am still here”.
