Cornfields Contours
by Bill Bernbeck
Digital capture; printed on luster paper with ultrachrome inks
10x10-inch print, 20x20-inch frameThe rows
of corn stubble outlined the contours of the hillside with the snow
cover. The lone tree stands
out like an exclamation point, as if supported by the contour lines
themselves. A brilliant winter
blue sky completes the elements of this composition.
I passed by this scene many times before the conditions came
together for this image.

Solo Canoeist
by Bill Bernbeck
printed on luster paper with ultrachrome inks
10x10-inch print, 20x20-inch frame
The lake water is still. The surface is smooth as
glass. A lone canoeist
sets out to ferry a load of supplies to his camp.
The quiet conditions help to ease his journey.
He sees the ripples of a light breeze in the distance.
He knows his labors will increase soon.
He savors the peace of the moment.

Eyes on Fifth Avenue
by Dan Neuberger
Archival

The eyes in the shop on Fifth Avenue captivated me, so, of
course, I had to photograph them.

Ceiling at Museum of Modern Art
by Dan Neuberger
Archival Inkjet Print
7.5 x 7.5 inch print, 20x20 frame
MOMA is my favorite NYC hangout and I have
taken many photographs there. This one may be a little
confusing, as I chose to rotate it 90 degrees, making it more or
less abstract.

Love at Noon
by Dan Neuberger
Archival Inkjet Print
10 x 13.5 inch print, 20x20 frame
This sculpture, one of my favorites, is on the corner of the
street where my parents lived. There is at least one other one,
in Philadelphia, where I saw it several decades ago.
Incidentally, it has happened twice in recent years that I have
coincidentally met friends from Rochester on that particular
corner!!

Ada en Pointe
by Dan Neuberger
Silver Gelatin Print,
12 X 16-inch print, 20 X 24-inch frame
Ada was an exceptional dancer, still is a wonderful person,
and a good friend. Unfortunately, she no longer dances because
of health issues, and is now a Yoga teacher in California. I
have very fond memories of the many shoots we had back in the
nineties.

Arise
by Betsy Phillips
Unframed
Archival Inkjet on Canvas
20x30-inch
This image was taken in Santa Fe, New Mexico of a crumbling
wall, and was originally shot horizontally, but I chose to
rotate the image 90 degrees to achieve the effect that you see.
What initially attracted me was the texture and arrangement of
lines and shapes, the randomness of the paint spatters.
The purple hue that you
see is from my imagination, as the original wall was much more
neutral in color. This is one of two in a series. The other
image, entitled “Nightfall”, is a horizontal with similar tones
and colors.

Healing
by Betsy Phillips
Unframed
Archival Inkjet on Canvas
20x30-inch
This image was taken in
Phoenix Arizona and is a close up of the surface of
an outdoor steel sculpture. It is part of a series that focuses
on details of that same sculpture and how the lines and shapes
interact with one another and the sky. What attracted me to the
sculpture was the rich patina of the rusted steel and the
interplay or texture, line and shape. Here, the line and shape
are gone, leaving only the variations in texture. Two angel-like
figures appear to me, hence the title “Healing.”
The image was first captured on film, then
scanned at high resolution and manipulated in Photoshop for
color balance, saturation, brightness and contrast to achieve
the impression of an abstract painting. It was then printed on
canvas and stretched to further that end.

Firewall
by Betsy Phillips
Unframed
Archival Inkjet on Canvas
20x30-inch
This image was taken in
Santa Fe,
New Mexico of a wall on which it
appears that a painter, without thought, ran the paint roller
over the wall to clean off excess paint. What was left behind
was interesting to me because of the serendipity of it, the
textures, and the various levels of intensity of paint, but
especially, the break in the strokes. Photoshop was used to
further exaggerate the differences between strokes.
The image was first captured on film, then scanned at high
resolution and manipulated in Photoshop for color balance,
saturation, brightness and contrast to achieve the impression of
an abstract painting. It was then printed on canvas and
stretched to further that end.

Denali Sunset
Denali N. P., Alaska
by Gary Thompson
12 x 23-inch print, 20 x 31-inch frame
The warm side lighting and long shadows falling on
Mt. McKinley just before sunset was what attracted me to take this
image. The reflections in the pond added atmosphere to the scene.
During the last week of August the blue berry and bear berry
plants turn the tundra scarlet.

God Beams of Del Norte
Redwoods N. P., California
by Gary Thompson
16 x 20-inch print, 24 x 28-inch frame
Phyllis and I were driving along the Avenue of the
Patriarchs in Redwood N.P.
when we saw dramatic "god beams" of light percolating through the fog
and giant redwood trees. We
immediately parked our car and proceeded to photograph this on and off
again phenomenon for about four hours.

Sunset at Mesa Arch
by Gary Thompson
16 x 20-inch print, 26 x 30 inch frame
Mesa Arch has become an icon for serious photographers
in the Southwest. I knew
that I wanted to capture the beautiful red glow on the bottom of the
arch, but also wanted an unique way of capturing the beauty of this
classic scene. I decided to
sunburst the rising sun against the lower edge of the arch to provide a
personal touch.

Buoys
in the Window
by Phyllis
Thompson
13 X 20-inch print, 24 X 31-inch frame
I
was attracted to the pink buoys and the shades of blue at dusk
when I photographed this
image two years ago. We often say that when you see a shot you
like you should take it because it will never be the same again.
When we returned this year the buoys and the rope were gone.

Peggy's Cove Lighthouse
by Phyllis Thompson
13 X 20-inch print,
25 X 31-inch frame
This lighthouse stands majestically on the rocks at the mouth of
Peggy's Cove harbor. The rain the previous
night provided the puddle in the foreground. I needed to lie on
my stomach with my panoramic camera and
tripod flat on the rock in order to capture the reflection of
the lighthouse in the image.

Peggy's Cove Harbour
by Phyllis Thompson
9.5 X 24-inch print, 19 X 33-inch frame
Peggy's Cove is a picturesque harbor village that looks the same
today as when we visited it thirty years ago. The quaint houses
and two or three tiny shops have not changed. The residents of
Peggy's Cove have effectively prevented evidence of modern
society to creep into their community.

Socrates
by George Wallace
10x15-inch print, 16x20-inch frame

capture how I felt he would like to be seen, as fierce. This image

Rochester's competitions.

White Rose
by George Wallace
10x15-inch print, 16x20-inch frame
One day I was taking macro shots of roses. When I got home I noticed
that this one reminded me of Georgia O'Keefe, with the intense
shadows , subtle grays, and bright whites.
